June 19, 2008- Newark, OH- The Ohio State University at Newark recognized academic excellence at its annual Salute to Undergraduate Achievement Dinner on Tuesday, May 20th. Presented that evening were the 2008 John Mount Award, the Robert Barnes Award and the Dean’s Award. Rachael Moore is the recipient of the John Mount Award. This award is given to a student who began his/her career at Newark and finished in Columbus. Rachael will be receive a BA in Art Education. In addition to a fine scholarly record, she has engaged in considerable community service. Gloria Brown is the recipient of the Robert Barnes Award. This award is given to the best student graduating from the Newark Campus. Gloria will receive a BA with distinction in Education. She completed the first honors thesis in education we have had in several years. Gloria is also an outstanding campus citizen. She has been President of the Laurel Collegiate Society for honors and honors-eligible students for the past two years, and treasurer of Kappa Phi Kappa, an Education Program honors society.
