NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS:

  • We have some new officers! Terry Gomes brings his extensive skills in strategery to the office of Secretary of Defense. Doug Moser is our new Activities Director and unofficial commindante of funny shirts. Megan Boeshart is now the Rough Draft Treasurer. Some old faces still remain as Ashley "the Queen Bee" Caggiano and Jon "the Minister of Propaganda" Holmes have not yet suffered a coup (though they have had to put down a few attempts by special ops units of the Math Club).

  • This spring, we will be hosting a career planning and graduate school advising session where students can acquire information to help them prepare for life after graduation. We plan to have guest speakers to discuss some of the options available to English majors. Be on the lookout for additional details!

  • Rough Draft is also going to host another Course Planning Colloquy where students and English department faculty will discuss upcoming class offerings. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions that will help them make more informed decisions regarding which classes they sign up for, and faculty will have a chance to explain what they are planning for upcoming classes and what books they will be using.

  • Additionally, our regularly scheduled meetings will include copious amounts of pizza, and hijinks are sure to ensue.
  • Feel free to send us an e-mail with any questions or suggestions that you might have:

ABOUT ROUGH DRAFT:

Our campus has an English club?

Yes, we do! Rough Draft is the Ohio State University at Newark’s newly formed English Club. Membership is open to all students across the disciplines interested in literature or writing. Our purpose is to provide a setting for the free exchange of ideas between students with similar interests, while maintaining an inviting, light-hearted atmosphere. We are also a resource for students who are part of, or interested in, the English Program.

Rough Draft’s new home base is located in the Writer’s Studio in room 210 of the Warner Center. There we have various resources on hand, such as information on the English Major and the Honors Program, materials on employment for English majors, and references for studying to take the Graduate Record Exam. However, the greatest resource that we offer is the dissemination of information through our members and the English Department faculty.

Rough Draft members possess unique and insightful perspectives that can assist any student with navigating the halls of academe. Ultimately, the goal of our upcoming events and meetings is to facilitate the communication and sense of community amongst students with similar “Englishy” interests, and to have fun doing it!
